Emily Kringle, PhD, OTR/L is an Assistant Professor of Kinesiology and Director of the Disability and WELLness (DWELL) Laboratory. A first-generation college graduate who grew up in rural Minnesota, Dr. Kringle earned her Masters degree in Occupational Therapy (MOT) at the University of North Dakota. Her commitment to leading the DWELL Laboratory's research program is fueled by 5 years of full-time clinical practice experience as an occupational therapist serving in inpatient rehabilitation, rural skilled nursing facilities and outpatient, and inpatient psychiatric settings in Washington state and Minnesota. Dr. Kringle earned her Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Rehabilitation Science at the University of Pittsburgh and completed postdoctoral research training at the University of Illinois Chicago in the Departments of Occupational Therapy and Medicine. Dr. Kringle integrates her training in occupational therapy, rehabilitation science, and behavioral medicine to develop health promotion interventions that can be effectively delivered in stroke rehabilitation and community-based contexts.
